As a survivor of three different variations of burnout, I’m now in 18th year of full-time teaching and genuinely LOVE it more every day.

Yes, even with its heartaches and challenges, teaching can and should also bring us incredible joy and fulfillment every single day.  To keep doing what I love without losing my light, I have made it my mission to learn how to get the mojo back and KEEP it. After having discovered and turned to proven tools to do just that, I follow a persistent calling to help keep talented teachers–whether in their first week of teaching or in their last week before retirement–in a place where they feel rejuvenated on every level.

I have loved giving my Transformed Teacher presentations and workshops to a variety of schools and districts in Georgia, Missouri, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

With that said, the classroom is my happy place; I have no desire to ever stop teaching. My passion for educating is fueled by the delight and privilege of connecting with teachers I work with, as well as hundreds of teachers from around the nation and world who have become comrades, clients, and dear friends.

As a mom of two who sees every student as “somebody’s baby,” helping inspire and encourage YOU to rediscover—and keep— your joy for the teaching profession is my passion and purpose.

Why? Because you’re amazing, and you deserve to feel that way. Also, when you show up energized and equipped, you’re better able to help nurture and guide the next generation toward a 21st century era of critical thinking and problem-solving. Our students deserve the very best, and the connection between teacher well-being and student success has been proven many times over. A teacher who feels streamlined, resilient, and joyful means students who feel safe, valued, and a lot more likely to learn and grow.

I’m convinced that when we teachers take time to care for our own well-being, which includes not only self-care but SOUL care, then we can transform from overwhelmed to overjoyed. As a result, our students benefit on all levels: socially, emotionally, academically, and yes, spiritually.  My faith drives everything I do, and we have to FUEL our faith so the fear doesn’t run the show.

Continually learning— from podcasts, books, online courses, and coaches—helps me keep my finger on the pulse of fresh ways to give hope and encouragement to teachers from all backgrounds. I’m passionate about simplifying strategies and techniques so you can apply them to work in your life as a teacher and as a human being (because sometimes we forget that we’re both!)

Helping you embrace your “teaching essence” (as I like to call it), pursue your creative passions with less fear, and strive to learn and grow personally and professionally every single day…that’s my jam!

When I’m not keeping up with my own two kids, teaching high school English, or connecting with other teachers, you’ll find me in the kitchen, hiking, gardening, being with family and friends, and anything to do with being outdoors.

I was right in the midst of teacher burnout. I was drained-physically, emotionally, mentally. But now, I’ve been working out consistently, making my family my priority by leaving work at work as often as I can, and I don’t stay late anymore. My class babies are sweet this year, and I also have chosen kindness when it comes to toxic coworkers. I’ve taken a deep look at my inner self and been reflective on what I need most. I’ve also started eating foods that nourish my body. I have found some amazing tools as well as a newfound friend and coach to help me along the way… I can’t thank you enough!

I first met Meredith several years ago when my son was in her 8th grade English class.  I got to know her very well over the course of that year, and was consistently - and thoroughly - impressed by her.  I got to know her further when my younger daughter was also assigned to her class and benefited from Meredith’s excellent instruction. She has shown unfailing professionalism and dedication to her work.  Whether by e-mail, letter, or face-to-face conversation, she is a superlative communicator.  She has impeccable moral standards, treating each child under her tutelage with the same level of concern and engagement, irrespective of the child’s skill level or even attitude (and certainly without regard to gender, race, socioeconomic status, etc.).  She is someone who is not only a very hard worker, but also a smart, engaged, contemplative individual, someone who is utterly dedicated to the field of education and who is gifted at building bridges across diverse groups.

Meredith is an amazing human being, woman, writer, and teacher. Over the past several years, I have witnessed her sharing her heart and touching people’s lives with her inspiring, poignant words and deeply caring, reflective, soulful heart. She is an extraordinary teacher as evidenced by the grateful feedback and words of thanks she so often receives from her students and their parents. If you were blessed to have a special teacher in your youth who really made an impact and profound difference in your life, know that Meredith IS that teacher for so many. She is relatable, passionate, beyond competent, and has a wealth of experience not only professionally, but personally, in terms of how to live an authentic, well-rounded, meaningful, healthy life from the inside out. She walks the walk.

Meredith sees herself as a member of a larger learning community with responsibilities that extend to making a difference in school cultures. She is a gifted and resourceful teacher with the capacity to incorporate a variety of approaches and strategies to engage and motivate students. She is a “can-do” person who is committed to continuing growth and development for herself and her peers. Her attention to detail, good humor, and admirable work ethic are qualities required for strong leadership.  She works tirelessly to develop individual strengths in others.  Whether speaking or writing, she communicates with diverse groups in a natural and clear fashion.  Meredith is a team player who works to achieve common goals for the education of all children.
— Jan E.
Meredith exemplifies excellence in every facet of her teaching. She not only knows and loves her subject, but she is also sensitive, creative, and truly committed to her students, her school, and the community. Those fortunate students who pass through her classes are engendered with a commitment to excellence so well modeled by this outstanding educator. Meredith understands that just as each student has unique needs, so does each group of students. Her patience, persistence, and implementation of innovative strategies encourage and engage students.. She also gives unselfishly of her time to benefit her students, school, and community. In addition to being highly competent, creative, and caring, Meredith is an energetic team player.
